Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories are of discovering a piano hidden in her attic then becoming enthralled by the sound it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music not to get an income or as a pastime, but as an opportunity to improve. To achieve this she wrote her first songs that were her own creations. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as influences as well as an affinity for Bjork's style. After her mom said that her songs can not only aid in her efforts to gain fame, but also make others see their significance within the global community and see the possibilities for her songs, she decided to begin playing in front of the public. The piano was first played by her when she was six years old and began writing music at the age of nine. This was not known to her family until she was fourteen. Aurora's accomplishments were never her dream. Her sole passion is writing music. According to her, she believes that music can help people feel more relaxed.
